Ideogramatic Series
The serious was born from the conceptual intention to represent through a Realist-Barroque technique (based on Vermeer and Velázquez), archetypal forms arising from the unconscious, which are also reminiscent of abstract surrealism. This initial purpose, manifested in the so called ‘ideograms’, is modified with the introduction of the human element, as seen in the ‘Ideogrammatic Still-Lifes, and the ‘Architectonic Concepts’. The ideograms posteriorly pass unto a second plane, where the human form predominates (next gallery). In stylistic terms, the work of these four years manifests an aesthetic, technical and programmatic coherence not seen again in the work of Figueroa.
